Over the opening weekend, the theatrical screening of “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To the Hashira Training-” had a significant impact, grossing an impressive $11,575,000 in the United States and securing the #2 spot at the box office. The movie features the first episode of the “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Training Arc” TV anime and the concluding episode of the “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc.”
Breaking down the figures, the film generated $5,525,000 on Friday, including proceeds from preview screenings on Thursday, followed by $3,530,000 on Saturday and $2,520,000 on Sunday.
This achievement follows a trend set by previous screenings of “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” content in the United States. Back in March 2023, a similar theatrical screening of the first episode of the “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc” collected a staggering $10.1 million during its opening weekend.
Additionally, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To the Hashira Training-” is also being presented in IMAX and premium large formats, elevating the viewing experience and potentially contributing to its success at the box office.
The film premiered in Tokyo on February 2 as part of its World Tour, immediately claiming the top spot with 443,700 tickets sold, amounting to 646,790,467 yen (approximately $4.35 million) within the first three days. Since then, it has continued to attract audiences, selling a total of 1.03 million tickets for approximately 1.4 billion yen (about $9.32 million) as of February 18. The “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Training Arc” anime is scheduled to debut in spring.
The “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc” anime, which premiered in April 2023 with a special one-hour episode and spanned 11 episodes, was streamed on Crunchyroll during its airing.
